Citizenship
Eligibility for citizenship is determined by the Department of Home Affairs who manage all enquiries for becoming an Australian citizen. Citizenship information and application forms are only available from their website. Councils do not have any oversight of eligibility of candidates.
For all enquiries about becoming a citizen candidates should contact the Department of Home Affairs direct on 131 881.
Citizenship Ceremonies
The management and procedure of ceremonies is under strict government guidelines and the council must follow procedures set down by the Federal Government. At the Copper Coast Council we hold Citizenship Ceremonies on Australia Day and throughout the year as required and dependent on numbers to welcome new citizens into the City.
While the Copper Coast Council hosts Australian Citizenship Ceremonies, the Council is unable to provide further information regarding the timing of Ceremonies for new citizens. Citizenship Applicants will receive a written invitation to their ceremony directly from the Department of Home Affairs within three to six months of their application approval. All Citizenship Ceremony enquiries should be directed to the Citizenship Information Line on 131 880.
