Building Fire Safety Committee
The Copper Coast Council has established a Building Fire Safety Committee in accordance with the Planning Development and Infrastructure Act 2016, which is responsible for ensuring that the level of fire safety within existing buildings is maintained to a satisfactory level.
The Building Fire Safety Committee consists of 4 members being a person with building surveying qualifications and a person with expertise in the area of fire safety, along with representatives from the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service and South Australian Country Fire Service. The committee meets regularly to undertake inspections of buildings within the Copper Coast Council and, where necessary, will request that the level of fire safety within buildings be upgraded to a satisfactory standard.
