Copper Coast Sport & Leisure Centre Redevelopment
The Copper Coast Sports and Leisure Centre located on Doswell Terrace, Kadina is owned by the District Council of the Copper Coast and managed by Belgravia Leisure.
The centres main users are cardio & gym (670+ members), basketball (700+ members), netball, tennis and the Kadina Memorial School. Other activities include; futsal, sport aerobics, children's activities and vacation care.
Sport in the Yorke Peninsula is of high importance, many local residents play multiple sports over the summer and winter seasons. Basketball is one of the most popular sports on Yorke Peninsula with a 700 strong membership in the roster played from the CCSLC.
Funds raised through a mixture of donations and grants have recently contributed to a $10,000,000 upgrade of the existing Sport Centre which included three new multipurpose undercover courts, relocation of the gym and redevelopment of the reception area including seating and a cafe.
We were also able to reseal the car park, resurface the Tennis and Netball courts, replace the fencing and install light towers to provide a much improved environment.
To complete the project the existing court has been renovated into a show court with permanent seating installed.
The vision is for the venue to become a modern recreational indoor centre for the region and adjoining education precinct.
The Yorke Peninsula is a growing area, but young families are hesitant to relocate to a region if the families do not have access to the same level of opportunities as those in the Adelaide area.
This redevelopment will bring expertise (State teams and coaches training and running clinics) to our region and give families an opportunity to compete in a facility equal to any that Adelaide has to offer.
