Under the Federal Government’s, the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS) and recycling e-waste (electronic products that have reached the end of their “useful life”) was established. E-waste that ends up in landfill, will leak toxins into the soil and have devastating impacts on the local environment. E-waste contains valuable resources that can be easily recycled and made into new products reducing mining for new resources to make products. Council’s Resource Recovery Centre is a registered Unplug N' Drop location for all electrical items and accessories and has contracted TechCollect (the only registered not for profit organisation that ensures 90% of materials are recovered) to recycle e-waste collected in the Copper Coast.
