VOLUNTEER GRANT OPEN

The 2021 Volunteer Grants are now open for organisations in the Electorate of Grey until Monday, 19 April at 5pm.

Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to help community organisations and support the efforts of volunteers, with each electorate in Australia allocated $132,450 (GST Inclusive).

The grants can be used on the following:

  • Eligible small equipment
  • Transport costs of volunteers with disability
  • Fuel costs incurred by volunteers
  • Training for volunteers
  • Background screening checks of volunteers
  • Promoting awareness of and increasing participation in volunteering opportunities
  • Adapting practices to support volunteers’ safety in the coronavirus pandemic environment

Organisations in the Electorate of Grey are invited to submit an Expression of Interest to local MP Rowan Ramsey using THIS FORM and returned via email (rowan.ramsey.mp@aph.gov.au), post (PO Box 296, Port Pirie, SA, 5540) or handed into any of Mr Ramsey's offices in Kadina, Port Pirie or Whyalla)

The local MP will consult with a Community Committee and nominate the recipients of grants based on local volunteer needs, previous grant recipients and spreading the distribution of funds across communities within the electorate.

This grant is part of the Australian Government's Families and Communities Program – Volunteer Grants Activity in 2021, to encourage and support volunteering, and help community organisations support their volunteers and vulnerable people.

Please note: this is a competitive process and this grant usually generate a lot of interest.
