Although the Council currently does not require cats to be registered, the Dog & Cat Management Regulations require that a cat must be microchipped. Many cat owners are unaware that the microchip number then has to be recorded on the Dog and Cat Online System (DACO). Council wants to assist cat owners to record their cats’ microchip numbers to avoid any State Regulated penalties of up to $2,500 or an expiation fee of $170.
