YORKE PENINSULA’S COPPER COAST FLAME FESTIVAL IGNITES THIS FRIDAY

This Friday, 27 May 2022 marks a historic day on the Yorke Peninsula’s Copper Coast as the inaugural three-day FLAME Festival ignites.

With 50 events spread across the Yorke Peninsula’s three largest urban centres—Kadina, Moonta and Wallaroo—Copper Coast artists, entertainers, venues and community groups are inviting everyone to experience their Food, Light, Art, Music and Entertainment.

The Festival warms up with Yorkes Emporium on Friday night as guests indulge in local produce, brews and performances as Moonta’s Queen Square is transformed into a magical market place full of treasures and entertainment for everyone.

The 1-hour-and-30-minute trip from Adelaide is made worthwhile with other major events including the Wallaroo “Flaming Fiesta” Street Party, “Kadina Hub Comes Alive” with entertainment around every corner and the Foreshore lighting up at night with the special “Light up FLAME” Wallaroo Silo Light Show.

“Each town offers their own unique experiences such as blacksmithing and tours at the Moonta Mines and sea view dining at Wallaroo,” Copper Coast Mayor Roslyn Talbot said.

“They also have a wealth of other workshops, exhibitions and opportunities for people to immerse themselves in Food, Light, Art, Music and Entertainment.

“From learning to paint, dance lessons and making your own jewellery to exhibitions, garden strolls and performances—there really is something for everyone.”

With Wallaroo claiming both Small Tourism Town Award and Peoples’ Choice Award at Tourism Industry Council South Australia’s 2022 Top Tourism Town Award, and Moonta winning the Top Tourism Town Award last year, Copper Coast Mayor Roslyn Talbot welcomes all to experience why the Copper Coast is the Lifestyle Location of Choice.

“It’s pleasing to see our Copper Coast towns have left a lasting impression on the public following the number of votes we have received in our past two entries,” Mayor Talbot said.

“Our region offers so much that it’s hard to squeeze everything in the itinerary, making tourists often visit multiple times.

“But with 50 events, this festival is a great opportunity to experience the best of what the Copper Coast has to offer in the space of just three days.”

This project was made possible by the Australian Government's Building Better Regions Fund (Round 4) and Regional Arts Fund, which supports the arts in regional and remote Australia.
