Its many attractions and accommodation make it an ideal tourist destination for both local and International visitors.
The District Council of the Copper Coast was formed in May 1997 with the amalgamation of the District Council of the Northern Yorke Peninsula and the Corporation of the Town of Wallaroo.
The Head office of the council is located in Kadina and branch offices in Moonta and Wallaroo.

Temporary Road Closures - Moonta Bay & Port Hughes12 April 2013
The District Council of the Copper Coast and CME Civil would like to advise the roads between Rossiters Road, Simms Cove Road and Coast Road Moonta Bay including Trelawney Street, Tipara Court, Gulf Street, Queens Place, Francis Place, Plymouth Street, Moontana Street and Moontana Avenue will incur temporary road closures. This is due to construction works on the Community Wastewater Management Scheme (CWMS). The roads will remain open to local traffic only. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Can You Help?11 April 2013
Can you help The Friends of Port Hughes and the District Council of the Copper Coast to plant 1000 plants. Planting days are 27th & 28th May 2013 and 3rd & 4th June 2013 between 10am and 12 noon. Please supply own gloves and small hand tools. Light refreshments will be provided by Friends of Port Hughes. Meet at the grassed picnic area on Minnie Terrace, Port Hughes. Change in Operating Hours - Kadina Recycle Depot19 June 2012
As previously advertised please note that effective from Friday, 15th June 2012, both the Moonta and Wallaroo Recycle Depots will be permanently closed.
Please also note a change in operating hours for the Kadina Recycle Depot:
Monday – Thursday 8.30-4.00, Friday 8.30-4.30, Saturday and Sunday 11.00-4.00.
