  • introduce preschoolers and parents/carers to a wide variety of books and stories 
  • encourages development in listening and language skills
  • enable pre-schoolers to socialise
  • enable care-givers to socialise and meet other carers
  • develop pre-schoolers interest in libraries and reading
When attending storytime...
  • please be prompt
  • sit with your child and enjoy the session
  • if your child becomes restless please feel free to leave the sessions at any time.

Rhythm & Rhyme sessions...
  • Introduce children to language through sounds, pattern, rhythm, rhymes, repetition and music.
  • Encourage development in listening and language skills which are important foundations for early literacy
  • Encourage interaction between the child and parent/carer
  • Enable children to socialise
  • Enable caregivers to socialise and meet other carers
  • Develop an interest in libraries and reading
When attending Rhyme Time...
  • Please be prompt
  • Sit with your child on your knee and participate in the session
  • If your child becomes restless feel free to leave at anytime


READ & RHYME TIME
Moonta
Tuesdays 9.15am during school terms
 for babies and toddlers aged from 0-3 years
no bookings required

 

Read and Rhyme sessions support parents and caregivers of babies and toddlers to lay strong foundations for early literacy development through song, rhyme and story. Babies are learning from day 1 and sharing books and rhyme is a wonderful way to help you develop their language skills and vocabulary as well as being a rewarding time that you spend with your child.

2017 sees the thirteenth year of the Premier’s Reading Challenge in South Australia.

South Australian students from Reception to Year 12 were challenged to read twelve books by 8 September 2017.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge continues to be an important initiative that supports the State Government’s commitment to increase the literacy skills of young South Australians and encourage them to enjoy reading, with more than 95 per cent of South Australian schools having students completing the Challenge. In 2015 over 129,500 students from 705 schools took part in the reading challenge.
