The VRC is located in the old railway station at Moonta and its opening times are as follows:
We can be contacted by phone on (08) 8828 1200 or fax (08) 8825 3743. While this service is based in Moonta it is for the use of all volunteers and community organisations in the Copper Coast Council area.
There are many services available for the use of volunteers and their organisations including free photocopying (if you provide the paper, low cost if not), faxing, scanning, computer with internet and printing access, paper cutting, paper perforating, laminating, paper folder and stapling. Help is also available with newsletter and brochure design and other computer programs.
A Meeting Room is also available for community groups to use for no cost. It is able to be booked through the VRC. It will seat up to 15-20 people and has a whiteboard available.
Publications are also available to borrow on many volunteering topics including volunteer management, risk management and recruitment. Information sheets from the Office for Volunteers are also available on a range of subjects including Police Checks, Insurance, Media Guide, Incorporation and Sponsorship. Information on various current grants is also available as well as websites/services available to help organisations find more that they can apply for.
Volunteering information is also available with organisations currently looking for volunteers able to list their vacancies. Various groups also display brochures on their volunteer programs. Call into the VRC to see the current list of volunteer vacancies. You are also able to register your interest to be a volunteer and you can be matched to various vacancies either that are already available or as new opportunities come in.
A monthly column is written for the Yorke Peninsula Country Times, which is usually in the first paper of each month. This has current information relevant to volunteers and their organisation in the Copper Coast area as well as a selection of current volunteer vacancies.
New residents can find out which organisations use and currently require more of the valuable assistance that volunteers provide. It is also a great way to meet new people with similar interests and find out about your new home and community.
The VRC is also an Information Kiosk for Beyond Blue, the national depression initiative, with various information sheets available. Beyond Blue can also be contacted on http://www.beyondblue.org.au/ by calling 1300 22 4636 or by talking to your doctor or health practioner.

Thinking of Volunteering?
What is volunteering? Formal volunteering is an activity which takes place through not for profit organisations or projects and is undertaken:
Why Volunteer?
Who needs volunteers?
VOLUNTEERS ARE VITAL....there are various opportunities within each area, call and find out more, with no obligation.
Your local Broadband for Seniors kiosk gives you the opportunity to discover how the web can play a great part in helping you to stay in touch with friends and family, along with offering access to the wealth of information that is available online. This is the chance to find out what all the excitement is about.
The kiosk features two computers with broadband access for use by older members of our local community. We are also providing training, so beginners are very welcome!
Volunteer tutors are also required.
For further information, or to volunteer your time please call 8828 1200 or pop in and see Sue at the Volunteer Resource Centre.
